JRS Development Design Projects Awarded to JHA
Oct 06, 2008
Jobes Henderson is currently the civil engineer and land surveying consultant for 2 of Ohio’s largest Job Ready Sites Grant funded projects. The JRS Program, from the Ohio Department of Development, increases the State of Ohio’s available facility locations served by utility and transportation infrastructure. Sites improved under the program are kept at-the-ready to encourage future businesses to locate new or expanded operations in Ohio, bringing new jobs and revenue to the State.

The Projects JHA is completing are the site developments for the Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority and the Licking County Etna Parkway Projects. Both projects require site development of utilities and roadway design to create site for future development use.

The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority JRS site is at the Eastpointe Business Park and is approximately 323 acres and the Port Authority was awarded $4.3 million to improve the site for future development in Muskingum County. The project consisted of five parts: utility extensions, roadway improvements with rail crossings, redesign of existing sanitary sewer on site, extending rail service and grading for the Job Ready Site within the business park. The roadway design portion of this project includes Preliminary Plans, Construction Plans, and Final Construction Plans to improve the 2000’ of existing gravel roadway referred to as the “Haul Road” from Future Drive across the railroad tracks to SR 93. Another roadway improvement will be made at the intersection of Haul road and SR 93. JHA shall prepare Preliminary Plans, Stage 2 Plans, and Final Tracings to modify and improve the sight distance and add a left turn lane for travelers on SR 93.

The Licking County JRS Project consists of the approximately 14,000’ extension of Etna Parkway to connect State Route 16 (Broad Street) and U.S. 40 (National Road), improving the routing to Interstate 70 and offering access for commerce to the approximately 300 acres of development property. JHA will be completing utility extensions, traffic studies, and improvements to SR 16 and Refugee Rd as part of this project. The JRS grant received by Licking County for this project is approximately $3.4 million.
